Should I expect colour variations and change of colour after installation?

Yes, wood is a product of nature and there will be variations from board to board as no two pieces of wood are the same.  Being a natural product when exposed to sunlight over time your floor will age and become richer in colour adding even more richness and beauty to the product.

Can I re-sand my floor?

It is not recommended to sand this floor as you will sand off the craftsmanship that makes this product appear aged. We however recommend that you oil your floor and do a maintenance clean regularly. That way you do not have to sand you floor with the floor keeping its aged appearance for many years. There are certain ranges that can be sanded more easily. Sanding your floor will leave you with a standard Oak floor.

What is the best method of installation?

TrueWood’s various collections are suitable for both glue down and floating installations.

Where can I install my TrueWood Floor?

Our products are suitable for both homes and office.  Bearing in mind an office environment has much more traffic than that of a house, so more care will need to be taken.  We do not recommend hardwood flooring in full bathrooms that have a shower or a bathtub.  These areas have the potential for standing puddles of water and high moisture which with time will damage your floor. Because of this we cannot guarantee our product in this area.

Can I mop my floor using hot water with detergents?

No, this is not recommended, if you used excess water on you floor, over time this will damage your floor.  There are cleaning products designed specifically for our various collections.  These products will not only clean your floor, but will also maintain them.  See Maintenance guide.

Why does wood flooring expand? How do I repair damage caused by expansion?

Wood will generally expand when it absorbs moisture in conditions of high humidity, or when the moisture content of the sub-floor is high this will affect the floor.  The effects of expansion are evidenced in cupping, swelling and peaking joints.  If this has occurred in the flooring, the affected areas will most likely need to be replaced.  Avoid subjecting floors to wet mopping, water leakage and other potential damaging circumstances.  If a water leak is detected, to avoid further expansion a dehumidifier should be used.
